It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Philip “Bruce” Lowell Mooney on November 23, 2023 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre.

Predeceased by his loving wife Heather (nee Sullivan), son Allan (Nancy) and step children Laurie Elmore, Michael Owen and Jamie Owen. Bruce is survived by Ellenjane Mooney-Lauzon (Jean Paul), Karen Roberge (Yves), Cathy Owen, Wanda Walker (John), Tracey White (Bob), Shelley Owen (Don), Michelle Lowe (Warren). He will be forever cherished by his 25 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren.

Bruce grew up on a farm in Leamington, Ontario. In 1954, he was proud to be part of the first graduating class of the University of Toronto’s pharmacy program. His passion for his career and his entrepreneurial spirit allowed him many opportunities throughout Ontario but in 1974 he purchased Mondoux Pharmacy in Sturgeon Falls, and remained owner until his retirement in 2001.

Bruce loved family and took every opportunity to be surrounded by his loved ones. His love of music was demonstrated by his ability to play anything from the piano, banjo and even the mandolin. At the Taylor family gatherings he wouldn’t hesitate to strike up an impromptu band with anyone who would join in.

He was an avid golfer, hunter, boater, scuba diver, traveler and Leaf’s fan. He will forever be appreciated for his guidance, advice, stability, kindness, compassion and generosity. He was the pillar of the family, the source of our strength and the reason for our joy.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hillside Funeral Services located at 362 Airport Road, North Bay. Visitation will take place Friday December 1, 2023 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and Saturday December 2, 2023 from 10:00am-11:00am with a service to follow at Hillside. Friends and family may join in the celebration of life at Average Joe’s following the service.

In lieu of flowers donations to World Vision or Ducks Unlimited Canada would be greatly appreciated. Online condolences at www.hillsidefuneral.ca
