February 27, 1975 – October 17, 2024
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Alison Milne, age 49, on October 17, 2024, in Valley Regional Hospital, from aggressive leukemia that took her suddenly, without warning.
Born in North Bay, Ontario, Alison loved her adopted home of Nova Scotia. She was devoted to, and fiercely protective of, her husband and kids, her animals, and her students. A teacher at Horton High School for 16 years, she touched many students’ lives, giving support to so many that didn’t have it at home.
She was an avid reader, professional Amazon shopper, and loved to knit. She adored her annual visits to North Bay and her time on the lake, organizing her family and making sure everything was done correctly.
Alison was predeceased by her grandparents, Bill and Mabel Shankland and Lorne and Dorothy McCarthy. She is survived by her husband and best friend, Coby; son Liam; daughter, Brandy and granddaughter, Ezrah; parents, Pat and Linda McCarthy; sister, Robyn (Brian Gottfried); brother, Ryan; nephews, Tyler MacEachern and Bodhi Gottfried; and niece, Nova Gottfried.
Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services. There will be a celebration of life at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, and will be livestreamed for those unable to attend. Donations in Alison’s memory may be made to your local food bank to make sure kids have enough to eat or consider giving the gift of life by donating blood.
