Peacefully passed away at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at the age of 69 years. Dorothy was the loving sister to the late Russ Wallgren (late Linda), and the late Peter Wallgren. She is predeceased by her parents Elmer Wallgren and Margaret (nee Newman). She will be lovingly remembered by her nephew Walter Wallgren (Janice) and niece Christa (Brandon). Cherished great-aunt to Aubree, Brooklyn, Brody, and Oliver. Dorothy lived a full life. She had a great bubbly giggle and a unique sense of humour that helped her enjoy life with a twinkle in her eye. She loved music, listening to it, singing in church or with the Vox Choir and dancing. Dorothy always danced like no one was watching and followed the beat of her own drum. Travel was a real delight for her Wherever Dorothy travelled it was an adventure for her. A trip to the Crystal Caves in South River, road trips around Ontario, bus tours and Probus excursions out of province or out of the country; every trip was enjoyed with anticipation and enthusiasm and each trip was considered a gift.

She was a Big Sister and a long-time member of St. Andrews Church where she taught sunday school for a period of time. She was a decades long member of Beta Sigma Phi and did many good works with them and she will be dearly missed by her sisters there. She loved reading and was into book clubs, and enjoyed learning new things and was always up for the challenge of getting through a difficult book.

Dorothy was a wonderful gardener. Her garden on Fraser St. was a delight to all that opened the gate of the white picket fence and entered the paradise she created. She always managed to have a garden and plants wherever she lived she found a place to put her green thumb to work and create beauty. She was one of the first co-ordinators of the Heritage Gardeners of North Bay and had a degree in Horticulture from the University of Guelph.

Her trailer in Booth Landing was a great joy. She made some great friends there where she enjoyed participating in all the communal events, the water, fishing, and her little plot of land. She inherited her love of nature, fishing, and rocks from her dad and had fond memories of fishing trips, rock hunting with her dear brothers and parents.

The love of cats she inherited from her mom, but Dorothy also had dogs in her life. She enjoyed all animals. She also loved collecting her bird houses among her gardens.

She was quite artistic, photography, painting, especially painting rocks, sewing, and quilting. She made beautiful quilts. Anyone who was lucky enough to receive one had a work of art that was made with love and was a real treasure, and now a lovely keepsake.

Dorothy also had a talent for decorating and owned the decorating den. She was always she was always changing the décor in her home, making beautiful eye-catching displays, and showing off her many treasures. Every season or occasion was celebrated namely Christmas.

Dorothy was a real special person, and she will be dearly missed by many.
