(1935-2021)
Marie Barbara Makowiczuk peacefully passed away surrounded by the love of her family at Cassellholme on May 20th, 2021 at the age of 85 years. After immigrating from Austria as a young teenager with her parents Nick and Barbara Makowiczuk, the family settled in Kiosk where Marie spent the remainder of her early adulthood working at the Staniforth Lumber and Veneer Company, followed by Columbia Forrest Products.
Marie is survived and will be lovingly remembered by her brother Mike Makowiczuk (Madeleine) and always remembered as a kind, generous and loving Aunt to her nieces Jennifer (Ken) and Nancy (Jason) as well as her great nephews and niece Kyle, Nick and Avery. Marie is predeceased by her parents, as well as her brother Raimund Mösenbichler (Ursula) - Austria. Marie will also be missed by her extended family in Austria who she made certain to stay in touch with despite being across the ocean. ‘Ruhe in Frieden, Marie’.
Marie was an avid curler competing at the Provincial level and a devoted parishioner of the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption where she met some of her closest friends. As a big sports enthusiast, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Bluejays now have one of their biggest fans cheering them on from heaven - let’s see if that can actually help the Leafs!
The family would like to thank Dr. Prins and the amazing staff at Cassellholme for the wonderful care they provided Marie and for truly making Cassellholme feel like home.
Due to COVID-19 the family has decided on a private funeral mass at the Pro Cathedral of the Assumption. If desired, donations to the Pro Cathedral of the Assumption or Cassellholme for the aged will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
