MAJOR, ALINE MARY

1936-2023

It is with profound sadness that the Major family announce the passing of their beautiful matriarch Aline Major on January 30th,2023 at the NBRHC. She was in her 87th year. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

Aline leaves behind her beloved husband of 69 years Raymond Major (surviving). As well, she leaves behind her much-loved children, Bonnie Bon (Dave), Joanne Forbes (Don), Joyce Boudreau (Allan), Richard Major (Cheryl), Ronald Major (Julie), Gerald Major (Lori).

Grandma will be sadly missed by her 18 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren whom she loved very much and brought her great joy. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and family friends. Aline was predeceased by her parents Jean-Allain and Aurore (Dubois) Desrosiers and her in-laws Donat and Pamela (Gareau) Major. Aline was also predeceased by her siblings Roland Dubois (Pauline), Robert Dubois (Donna), Jacqueline Desrosiers, Jean-Marc Desrosiers (Louise Boutin, surviving) and Rena Desrosiers. Mom loved life and lived it to the fullest. Mom and Dad loved country music and together they would sing along to the songs that they loved from their Sirius radio stations. They were truly in love. Dad will miss her terribly. Mom loved camping, fishing, gardening and especially baking and playing cards with Dad and the grandchildren.

She was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that devoted her life to her family. Mom and Dad were foster parents for CAS for many years. They provided care and love for many children in need. Mom also worked as a lunch monitor at Laurentian Public School and loved to watch over the children while they ate their lunches and played outside. She made everyone that she loved feel special. Although she is no longer here with us in body, she will forever live on in our hearts. We can feel her wonderful spirit around us and we know that she is watching over us from above. With heavy hearts we will carry on without you Mom and we will remain a close, loving and supportive family just as you wanted us to. Heaven has gained another precious angel. Spread your wings Mom and fly high in the sky. We will always love and miss you. We would like to thank the paramedics, emergency team and staff in C.C.U for their care and compassion at a difficult time. We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the PSWS and Community Care Workers that helped care for Mom over the last few years. She thought the world of all of you. As per Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honour can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Canadian Cancer Society. Online Condolences can be made at www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com.
