James "Jimmy" Luscombe, Niibawid Makwa meaning "Standing Bear", age 66 journeyed to the Spirit World on Jan 15, 2023. Surrounded by family and in the comfort of an Ojibwe elder he changed worlds with a traditional ceremony. He leaves behind his daughters Crystal (Myles), and Jacqueline, and his grandson Tannan. In Hamilton he will be missed by his partner Debbie, son Robbie and granddaughter Jaide. He is survived by his brothers John, Jeff (Sean), Roy (Cindy) and his nephew Jamie. He was a proud retired carpenter who is honored by his brothers at Local 18 Carpenters Union.
He was a man of Native pride who loved everything about the outdoors. He was passionate about hunting, fishing and bushcraft. He was an artist and story teller. Those who knew him will remember him as strong, wise and generous with a great sense of humor. He was inseparable with his "Pup Bum" Sheena, his huntress, who walks with him now.
James' care has been entrusted to The Whispering Pines Funeral Home for cremation. He will be laid to rest at Eastlawn Cemetery in Hamilton alongside his Mom and Dad in the spring. We wish to have a celebration of life at that time. Donations can be made in his honor to the Hamilton Regional Friendship Center.
As he travels with his ancestors and ours, we will feel his love and guidance. We will cherish the memories until we meet again. Baa Maa Pii (See you later)
From our family to yours, Miigwech
