It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear dad (papa) Leo Arthur Legros 89, who went to be with the Lord on Tuesday February 25, 2025. Born December 3 1935, Leo was preceded in death by his father and mother Aurel and Irene Legros, wife Susan (Rich) Legros, his son Ronald David Legros and brother Joseph Legros. He will be lovingly missed by his two brothers, Arthur Legros of California and Paul Legros of North Bay, daughter Sylvia Trudel (Robbin Besserer) of North Bay, son John Legros (Treatrang) of Vietnam, daughter Janice Lawrence (Steve) of Syracuse New York, son Peter Legros (Mary) of North Bay and daughter Karen Low (Geoff) of Peterborough. Grandsons Ken Trudel and Samuel Low and granddaughters Kim Trudel, Rachelle and Majelle Legros and Jasmin Lawrence.

Born in Corbeil Ontario Leo grew up on his parents’ farm where he helped out performing many of the farming responsibilities even sheering the odd sheep. In 1954, Leo left Corbeil to attend Queens University to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering.  After successfully completing his first year at Queens, Leo transferred to the University of Toronto. When funds ran out Leo did a 5-year surveying apprenticeship with OLS (Ontario Land Surveyors). He started in 1967 with OLS and travelled and surveyed extensively throughout the province of Ontario including surveying along HWY 401.

During his travels, he met and married Susan Rich. Susan and Leo lived in North Bay raised their children and were married for 61 years. Leo retired from OLS in 1993. Leo and his dad Aurele built a cottage for his wife and children on Jaw Bone Bay Kippawa Quebec. Many summers were spent at the cottage where Leo would often be seen taking his family out on the boat to fish.  One of Leo’s many talents included playing the piano. He had a musical ear and played many old songs by memory. He continued to play until his last days.

Leo (papa) will be sorrowfully missed by his family and friends.

As per Leo’s wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Saturday March 1, 2025, at 9:30 am. A private family interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of choice would be gratefully acknowledged by Leo’s family.
