It is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Evelyn “Ev” Kilroy (née Wilson) in her 96th year on November 21, 2023 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, after a life extremely well lived.

Beloved wife of the late James “Jim” Kilroy (January 23, 1997) Dearly loved mother of Kathy Kilroy (the late Don M ) of Sutton, Ontario, Chris Hart (Chris) of Toronto, Ontario, Carol Kilroy (Don Austin) of London, Ontario, Ed Kilroy (Louise) of Whitchurch-Stouville and Jim Kilroy (Helene Boissonneault) of North Bay, Ontario. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Kristen and Brett Kilroy, Devin and Kathleen Hart, Breanne Austin, and Evan and Sheldon Kilroy. Her legacy will be continued with her four great granddaughters, Sloane and Paige Adams, Leah Hart and Brooke Kilroy. Evelyn was the dear sister of the late Kay Strutt, whose family were very close to Ev throughout her life.

Evelyn spent her life providing care to others, it was her calling. She graduated from St Joseph’s School of Nursing in North Bay in 1952. She remained close friends with many of those in her graduating class and regularly recounted stories of how much they were paid, how long they worked and most importantly how much fun they had together. She returned to nursing in the early 1970’s, and spent over 20 years with The Victorian Order of Nurses.  Ev valued her relationships with family and friends, they were a big part of her life.

Evelyn was a dedicated volunteer with Cassellhome,  Family Enrichment and into her 90’s volunteered with Meals on Wheels co-piloting with her grandson. Ev was an accomplished quilter, knitter, cook and baker and gave generously to friends and family. She was admired for her endless strength both physically and mentally.

At Evelyn’s request there will be no visitation or service. A gathering will be held to celebrate her life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations to a charity of your choice would be gratefully appreciated by the family. Online condolences can be made at www.hillsidefuneral.ca
