Passed away peacefully on Thursday September 21st, 2023 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre in her 85th year.

Loving and devoted wife of 56.5 years to the Late Adelard “Eddy” Jodouin (predeceased 2018).

Admired mother of Bruce Jodouin (Rose) of Ottawa, Bill Jodouin (Cathy) of North Bay, Jim Jodouin (Anita) of Las Vegas, Patty Mason of Napanee, Dean Jodouin (Sue) of North Bay, and Denis Jodouin (Andrea) of North Bay.

Cherished Grandmother (aka Nana, Nanny, Grandma and Memere) to Christopher (Natasha), Jonathan (Erika), Brandon, Carter, Brittany (Ben), Rhylee (Tyson), Farah (George), Dakota (Harley), Coleson and Kaydence.

Treasured Great Grandmother to Hailey, Xandre, Adelyn, Liam, Sarah, Victoria (Ian), Candice, Jacob and Jessica, and Great-Great Grandmother to Everett.

Predeceased by her parents Francis and Mary (nee Hicks) O’Brien, and her brother Gerry O’Brien. Shirley will be deeply missed by sister-in-law and friend Patricia O’Brien.

Shirley was a loving wife and a dedicated stay at home mom, raising her children and keeping the house in order while Eddy was on the road. She worked part-time at Coles and was proud to be involved with the Nipissing chapter of MADD Canada for 30 plus years, an organization that was near and dear to her heart.

Shirley enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, opting for quiet days in the house reading and knitting, and in more recent years playing Facebook games and completing fill in puzzles. Nothing made her prouder than her children and their families. Her smile could light up a city when one of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, or great-great grandchild was visiting or being discussed.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Roscoe, the staff and nurses at NBRHC, and the nurses and PSWs that provided home care. The exceptional care and support you provided for our mom, will never be forgotten.

Although the void in our hearts will never be filled, our family finds much comfort that her final wish has been granted, and she has finally been reunited with her Eddy.

The family will receive visitors and friends at the McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Wednesday September 27, 2023 between the hours of 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday September 28, 2023 at 10:30 am at St. Peter the Apostle Church.

A private family burial to take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation or MADD Canada will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
