With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Audrey (Beaucage) Harney on October 30, 2024, at the North Bay Serenity Hospice, following a brief illness. Born on January 9, 1931, on Temagami Island, Audrey’s life began amidst the rich traditions of the land, learning from her parents, Josephine (Commanda) Beaucage and Angus Beaucage, on the trapline. Her early experiences in Temagami shaped a resilient and compassionate woman, whose warmth and dedication would touch many.
Audrey attended high school in Toronto, later attending Northern College in Kirkland Lake, where she earned a diploma in accounting. Always passionate about learning and new ventures, she went on to obtain her real estate license.
Audrey married in Temagami and raised her family in Kirkland Lake before moving to North Bay in 1988.
A proud mother of seven—Sharon (Murray), Michael (Gisele), Colleen (Robert), Norman (Francine), Jennifer (Doug), David (Cheryl), and Cheryl (Kevin)—Audrey’s love extended to her 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one precious great-great-grandchild. Predeceased by her beloved parents Josephine Beaucage (Commanda) and Angus Beaucage, siblings Corine, Evelyn, Yvonne, and Joseph, and her grandson, Bradly Twigg, Audrey’s legacy will live on through her family and the countless lives she touched.
Audrey was a pillar of strength within her community, notably Holy Name Parish, where she served as a dedicated CWL member. She also played an important role in the startup of Twiggs Coffee Roasters in North Bay and her warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Heartfelt gratitude is extended to Dr. Gauthier in Unit D3 at NBRHC, and the staff and volunteers of the Nipissing Serenity Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion they provided.
Showings will be held at Martyn Funeral Home on Monday November 4 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Name Parish on Tuesday, November 5, at 11:00 AM, with internment following at Duchesnay Cemetery (Couchie Memorial Dr.). Family and friends are invited to a reception at Twiggs Coffee Roasters (595 Cartier St.)
Donations to Nipissing Serenity Hospice will be gratefully accepted in Audrey’s memory.
