It is with great sadness that the family of David Geden announces his tragic recent passing at the age of fifty. Born August 30, 1974 David spent most of his childhood and adult life in North Bay. He is predeceased by his father Philip Geden and is lovingly remembered by his mother Brenda Geden (nee Dalziel), his brother Andrew and family, his many aunties, uncles, cousins and all those friends in the local community who have loved and supported him through the years.
David had an innate musical talent that shaped his early life. Even as a baby he was drawn to music, listening intently to Tchaikovsky and responding emotionally to certain musical phrases. He started to play the piano and compose at the age of 3. Twice he performed as the guest solo pianist with the North Bay Symphony Orchestra, the first time at 13 years old.
After attending French Immersion Public School, David remained fully bilingual throughout his life. Graduating from Chippewa Secondary School as an Ontario Scholar he was accepted into the Science program at McMaster University, but shortly after changed course to focus on his first love, music. David achieved his Associate Diploma (A.R.C.T. In piano performance) with the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto in his early twenties.
David was the rehearsal and performance pianist for TOROS ( Theatre Outreach on Stage), local dance schools, and was in great demand as a piano accompanist for vocalists in the Kiwanis Festivals.
In spite of all his astounding musical gifts David was always humble and kind to others.
As with many highly creative individuals, David struggled with mental health issues in his later years. The family greatly appreciates the special care provided to him by the Assertive Community Treatment ( A.C.T.) Team 2 in North Bay.
David will be cremated and a future celebration of life will be planned to honour his memory.
In remembrance of David, donations to:
North Bay Regional Health Centre, 50 College Dr, “The Hospital Foundation In Care of A.C.T.2”
would be greatly appreciated.
