It is with great sadness that we announce Oneita Ewin (nee. Eckensviller) died peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Water’s Edge LTC, North Bay. She was the loving mother of Bill Ewin of Sault Ste. Marie, and Traci Ibbitson (John) of Callander. Proud grandmother of Ryan, Scott, Megan, Jake, Josh and Josee, and great-grandmother of Scotty, Paisley and Ember. Oneita was predeceased by her parents Alma (Oshell) and William Eckensviller. She is the dear sister of Jack Eckensviller (Jeanette) of North Bay, Janice Grasser (Murray) of Trout Creek, Joyce Duguay of North Bay, and Gerry Eckensviller (Lucy) of Trout Creek. Oneita was a life-long resident of Trout Creek, and employee of Powassan’s Scotiabank. She was well-known for her love of baseball, golf, curling, biking, walking and cross-country skiing.
The family will receive visitors at on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 10 to 11 am at Sacred Heart Church, Trout Creek, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in the church. Interment will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery with reception to follow at Trout Creek Community Centre.
The family would like to thank the staff at Waters Edge for the wonderful care she received during her stay at the home.
