Lawrence Bernard Duggan of Callander, Ontario, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023, at the age of 89.

Lawrence was born in 1934 to Sherman and Emilie (née Von Zuben) in Timmins, Ontario. A graduate of St. Michael's College of the University of Toronto, he pursued a teaching career with the majority of his years dedicated to English literature at West Ferris Secondary School in North Bay.

Lawrence is survived by his first wife, Sherry June (née Humphrey). They have seven children, ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild:  Matthew (Lyla), Owen, Chaleen (Hannah, mother of Rhys, and Noah), Michael (Kenji, Naomi, Tomoji), James (Jack, Molly, Charlie), Molly (Aidan), and Rory.

Lawrence spent the majority of his adult life with Verrall Moffatt (née Leroy) who passed away in May 2022. His stepchildren were Gary, Lorna, Cindy, and James; and adopted grandson Dane Bolton.

In 1989, Lawrence retired from teaching. He spent his time maintaining his countryside home, woodworking, making beer, chewing tobacco, cryptic crosswords, and enjoying a multitude of creative projects.

Lawrence was predeceased by Francis, Elaine, Audrey, Sherman, Donald, and Jerome, he is survived by sisters Marie and Suniva. A visitation will be held at McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Friday, January 5th, 2023 between the hours of 6-8 p.m. A mass of christian burial will take place at St-Alphonsus in Callander on Saturday, January 6th at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at the Callander Union Cemetery at a later date.
