Dufoe-Gleason: Gloria “Jean”
It is with profound sadness that the family of Jean Dufoe-Gleason announce her passing. Jean died on October 30th at the North Bay Regional Health Centre after a brief unexpected illness.
Jean is predeceased by her parents Mary and Louis Dufoe, as well her siblings Bonnie, Irma, Bill and Lorne.
She is survived by her children Kelly Gleason and Chad Gleason.
Jean was born on July 13th, 1944 in Mattawa, where she grew up and went to school.
She lived most of her adult life in North Bay with a few years in Timmins, Ontario.
In 1993, Jean returned to school to study business administration where she met lifelong friends Karen Culin and Linda Merrall. Throughout her life she worked in the schoolhouse in Mattawa, a bank, in retail and at Canadore College but her true dedication was to family and close friends; making a home and caring for others.
She enjoyed traveling with family and friends to the east and west coasts of Canada, the USA, the Caribbean and Europe.
She was gentle, thoughtful and always stylish.
In her later years, Jean enjoyed reading, music and good conversation; if you received a call from Jean, you knew to put on the kettle and settle in to a comfortable chair.
Jean was celebrated at a private burial on November 3rd in a ceremony with family and friends at St Anne’s Cemetery in Mattawa, Ontario.
‘Mom’, ‘Jean’, ‘Aunty Jeanie’ you will be greatly missed.
In lieu of donations, the family requests that you pick up the phone and call someone you love today.
