Cianco, Gloria

1939-2022

Passed away peacefully at Nipissing Serenity Hospice with her family by her side on September 11, 2022.  She has now joined her beloved husband of 52 years Albert (Chance) and brother Gary in heaven.

Family was the center of Gloria’s life.  She loved to spend as much time as she could with them.  She is survived by her 4 children Cindy Ciancio (Pete), Lori Menard (Bob), Frank Ciancio (Joel) and Sue Ortepi (Angelo) as well as her 7 grandchildren Cari Ciancio (Lyle), Jamie Porter (Jennifer), Jennifer Porter (Shawn), Michelle Menard (Tom), Jordi Ortepi (Syd), Joel Menard, Jansen Ortepi (Colin).  She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren and yes, even 2 great great grandchildren.  When she was not with them, you could find Gloria outside walking mostly at the waterfront or Lee Park.  She would stop along the way to catch up with friends.  She seemed to know everyone.

After a brief illness, she spent her last full day with her family at the creek at Serenity Hospice, laughing, singing, and telling stories, she had her last cigarette and a cup of coffee with almond milk.  She was happy and at peace.

Respecting Gloria’s wishes cremation will occur with no public visitation or services. A celebration of life will be at a future date.

If desired donations (payable by cheque or online) to the Kidney Foundation or Nipissing Serenity House would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.  We wish to thank the staff of 3rd floor Palliative Care at the North Bay Regional Health Center and the staff of Nipissing Serenity House for the exceptional care given to mom during this transition.  Special thank to Dr. Wendy Graham for listening to mom and providing such personal care for her all these years.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Hillside Funeral Services (362 Airport Road 705-474-7655).  Please visit www.hillsidefuneral.ca to leave a message of condolence as a keepsake for the family.
