Marilyn passed peacefully at NBRHC on May 5, 2023, surrounded by her children and family. She had persevered through a battle with Diabetes, however, she succumbed to a brief battle of congestive heart failure.
Marilyn was born on January 6, 1945, to Grace Darnley (Desrosiers) and raised by Harold and Verdun Yerkie.
Marilyn was a loving mother to James (Patricia), Jude (Bob), and Melanie (Eli). She was a cherished Nan to Koral and Nathan. Marilyn loved her children unconditionally and encouraged them to be their very best. She adored her grandchildren and accepted them for who they are.
She was a steadfast Christian and dedicated prayer warrior.
Marilyn is survived by 1st husband Edward Garland, 2nd husband Amil Brito, her sister Susan, and siblings Joe, Barb, and Renee. She is predeceased by her parents Harold and Verdun Yerkie; Mother Grace Desrosiers (Darnley) and siblings Carol, Linda and Marie Desrosiers
Marilyn will be sadly missed by all and fondly remembered by her best friends Judith and Mark Elliott. She worked in the food and bakery industry, but her passion was sewing. A seamstress at heart, her family and friends loved receiving her homemade gifts.
There will be a celebration of life on Saturday June 17th at noon, held at Lakeshore Evangelical Missionary church, 656 Lakeshore Drive, North Bay with a light lunch to follow.
Note: in lieu of flowers please respectfully make donations to International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, the Canadian Diabetes Association.
