Peacefully, in the comfort of his home in Loring, and with his loving wife by his side, Mervin died Sunday, January 5, 2025, the result of a two-year battle with cancer. He was 72 years old.

Mervin was the beloved husband of Roxie (Davis) of Loring; and much-loved father of Andrew (Lucy) of Bolton. He was the proud and loving Poppa of Ethan.

Mervin was predeceased by his parents Marie (Howes) (1932-2019) and Ervin Brooks (1927-2004). He was the dear brother of Veretta Robertson (Lavern) of Loring, Sandra Davis (Steve) of Port Loring, Margaret Reaume (the late Dennis) of Markham, Susan Williams of Burlington, Chris Brooks (Christine) of Loring and Terri Lamb (Paul) of Commanda Lake.

Mervin will be lovingly remembered by his siblings-in-law: Jacqueliene Erb (Heinz) of Arnstein, Judy Davis of Loring, Steve Davis (Sandra) of Port Loring, Phil Davis (Marj) of Powassan, Carrie Whitmell (Joe) of Port Loring, Peni Paxton (Brian) of Astorville, Henry Davis (Joyce) of Callander and Johnny Davis (Patty) of North Bay. He was predeceased by his parents-in-law Dorothy (Dellandrea) and Lawson Davis.

Mervin will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.

Mervin was a proud redneck and loved hunting, fishing, trapping and the great outdoors. He loved his music and his favourite flowers were daisies and brown-eyed Susan’s.

Cremation has taken place. A Redneck Celebration of Mervin’s life will take place on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 12:00 noon until 5:00 pm, at the Port Loring Legion Hall. Sharing of stories and memories at 1:00 pm. Camo, red plaid, hunter orange all suitable – no dress code required.
