According to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, at least 17 North Bay applications have been approved for locations listed as convenience stores or gas stations, as of earlier this summer.

They are among more than 4,000 licenses the province has handed out to confectionaries and gas stations.

The Ontario government states that eligible convenience stores will be allowed to sell beer, cider, wine, and ready-to-drink alcoholic beverages, such as coolers, hard seltzer, and other blended cocktails.

The application process opened on June 17 and became a contentious issue this summer during the nearly three-week-long LCBO strike.
