The North Bay YMCA will be getting a new gymnasium floor in the new year.

Officials at the YMCA say the project will begin on January 9 and take 5 to 6 weeks to complete.

The YMCA says the project is a capital investment of $250,000 thanks to a donation from Redpath Canada Limited and replaces a gymnasium floor that is over 20 years old.

"During this renovation, the gymnasium will be closed to ensure the safety of our members, participants, volunteers and staff," the YMCA stated in a newsletter.
While the gymnasium undergoes these necessary improvements, additional fitness classes will be added to the local YMCA schedule to help those members who frequent the gymnasium.
