North Bay's Mike Yeo is leaving the Vancouver Canucks despite the club's incredible season which ended in a seven-game series loss to the Edmonton Oilers in the Western Conference semi-finals.

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin made the announcement that the club had mutually parted ways with Assistant Coach, Mike Yeo.

"The organization would like to thank Mike for all his work the past two seasons," the Canucks stated on social media late Tuesday.

On May 22, Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Rich Tocchet was named the winner of the Jack Adams Award as the NHL's top head coach.

Yeo was given credit for the improved Canucks penalty kill in the playoffs.

According to Sportsnet, the Canucks offered Yeo a contract extension which he turned down.

Yeo spent the past two seasons as an assistant with the Canucks joining Bruce Boudreau's staff in July of 2022.

The 50-year-old North Bay product worked with the Flyers from 2019 to 2022, serving as the interim head coach for the last 60 games of the 2022 season after the firing of Alain Vigneault.

Yeo was nominated into the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame in the spring of 2019.

He coached the Wild from 2011 to 2016 followed by the Blues from 2016 to 2019, never getting past the second round of the playoffs.

However, Yeo did win the Stanley Cup as an assistant coach with the Pittsburgh Penguins back in 2009 where he spent time as an assistant from 2006 to 2010.
