The Canadian leg of the World Harmony Run made a pit stop in North Bay today to share their message on international friendship with area children and Mayor Victor Fedeli.
The run is a world wide grass roots initiative founded by Spiritual Teacher Sri Chinmoy, and endorsed by Nelson Mandela, has no political affiliation, nor does it fund raise. The aim of the group is simply to heighten people’s awareness of tolerance and understanding of the world’s diversity.
Art Gabour of the North Bay Legion Track Club was thrilled to welcome the runners to North Bay as their efforts share common themes with the track club.
Gabour said the Legion Track Club focuses on developing the character of children through good sportsmanship.
Before making a stop at City Hall to receive the mayor’s proclamation the group visited the students of Pinewood Public School.
The group consisted of Anvita Winter of Toronto, Eric Langlois of Ottawa and Sakhdev Lacroix of Montreal.
