Increased military traffic can be expected on major highways in Northern Ontario from November 1-3. Canadian Army Reserve personnel and vehicles from northern units of 33 Canadian Brigade Group (33 CBG) will be moving personnel and equipment from North Bay, Sudbury, and Timmins to Burwash for a training exercise.
Exercise WOLFHOUND STRIKE will include personnel from The Algonquin Regiment, The Irish Regiment of Canada, and 33 Service Battalion.
Personnel will converge on Burwash Range and Training Area to conduct simulated combat operations, and military vehicles will utilize Highways 11 and 17 with increased traffic on Friday night and Sunday afternoon.
Participating personnel will be planning short halts during the movement at pre-planned locations along the routes for fuelling and rest. You may see uniformed members with their vehicles along these routes with unloaded weapons.
"Exercises like this help to maintain Canadian Army readiness to support international stability operations with partners and allies and to respond to emergencies in Canadian communities during natural disasters like flooding and wildfires," says a news release.
All Canadian Army Reserve vehicle operators train regularly and maintain specialized qualifications and proficiency in safe and effective convoy and vehicle operations, and constantly practice discipline, safety, and effectiveness on various vehicles."
"All measures are being taken to ensure minimum inconvenience in these areas during the exercise dates, and members of the public are asked to take extra caution when approaching military vehicles."
