The WKP Kennedy Gallery is asking local artists to be part of history—and celebrate North Bay’s centennial.
The gallery and Capitol Centre are presenting "100 Years, 100 Perspectives," a community-driven exhibition marking North Bay’s 100th anniversary.
"We’re inviting 100 artists to create 12x12-inch artworks that capture the essence of our city—its people, places, and culture," says a news release.
“We’re grateful to the City of North Bay Centennial Event Hosting Fund which will allow us to feature a variety of local artists showcasing North Bay’s diverse history in such a creative and impactful way,” says Katina Connolly, Executive Director of the Capitol Centre. “This is also a great opportunity for the community to take home a piece of the 100th celebration, and support local artists in the process, as most artworks will be available for purchase.”
This exhibition welcomes artists of all ages and skill levels, fostering a vibrant tribute to North Bay’s past, present, and future. To ensure accessibility, free one square-foot canvases will be provided to all participating artists.
Those who prefer to work on their own surface should ensure their final piece, including any framing, measures exactly 12x12 inches.
You can pick up your canvas and register today or tomorrow, and February 25-March 1 at the WKP Kennedy Gallery from noon till 4 p.m. Artists must register in person or via email to confirm participation. If using your own canvas, you’re still required to register and a contract will be sent via email.
"We’re looking for artworks that capture the essence of North Bay—its landscapes, landmarks, communities, people and spirit. Express yourself in any medium, including painting, drawing, digital art, collage, photography, fibre arts, and mixed media," explains the release.
Artwork must be submitted between May 6–10 with a 150-250 statement describing your piece.
An opening reception takes place on the evening of May 27. Complimentary catering and a cash bar will be on site.
The works will be exhibited between May 27–July 31.
