A low pressure system emerging from Iowa is forecast to intensify rapidly tonight into Thursday morning as it tracks across the upper Great Lakes into Northern Ontario.
Strong and gusty southwest winds are expected to develop very early Thursday morning along and just behind a cold front crossing the central Great Lakes regions. Wind speeds of 60 km/h are expected with the odd gust to 90 km/h expected. The winds should begin to ease Thursday afternoon.
Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds. Very strong winds are expected to develop tomorrow (Thursday) morning as a cold front sweeps through the Great Lakes region.
Areas near Lake Huron and Georgian Bay will see 60 km/h winds with gusts to 80 to 90 km/h. The strongest winds are expected near sunrise. The winds will gradually weaken throughout the day Thursday.
