Cache Bay Trailer Park in West Nipissing now has a new owner, and the municipality will see $761,000 from the sale. The land was deemed “surplus to our needs” in February, and the sale is set to go through on December 15, explained West Nipissing’s Chief Administrative Officer, Jay Barbeau.
The municipality took bids for the land – about 8.5 acres on Lake Nipissing – and the highest bid was submitted by a numbered business, 1000688343 Ontario Inc. Barbeau, noted that a reserve bid was set at $600,000, so the winning bid of $761,000 “was very positive news for us.”

Previously, the municipality would lease the trailer park to an operator, but that contract was not extended. The park was open this past season, but the rising costs to maintain the place motivated council to sell. Staff estimated close to a quarter of a million dollars was needed to complete all the necessary upgrades, much of which would focus on the outdoor pool.
It is unknown if the new owner plans to carry on with the trailer park.
Municipal staff are in the process of preparing the legal documents and required by-laws to be brought to council for the final disposition of the lands.
