Weekend update shows 30 resolved cases in Barclay House outbreak

One person remains hospitalized while the overall outbreak total has reached 43: 36 residents, six staff and one visitor

The COVID-19 outbreak was detected in early November and has now affected 43 people.

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is updating its COVID-19 dashboard to include new information from the weekend.

The outbreak declared Nov. 2 at the Chartwell Barclay House Retirement Residence now has 30 total cases considered to be resolved. One person remains hospitalized. There are two new active cases in staff members at Barclay House, bringing the overall outbreak total to 43: 36 residents, six staff and one visitor. There are 13 active cases remaining.

In the district, the Health Unit reports eight new positive cases over the weekend, including the two from the outbreak. 

Two individuals in the district are hospitalized, as of Monday. Since the last report, Friday afternoon, 27 cases are considered to be resolved. There are 27 active cases in North Bay–Parry Sound.

Over the last week, of the district's cases, 18 per cent are associated with the Barclay House outbreak, 45 per cent are classified as the close contact of a case, 18 per cent are deemed to be "community," while 18 per cent are "unknown."

The breakdown of cases by age group shows 35 per cent are in the age 60–79 category, 28 per cent 40–59, 28 per cent 20–39, and 7 per cent are 19 and younger. Of note, in last Monday's weekend report, 52 per cent of the cases from the previous seven days were in individuals age 80 and older.
