The Timmins Rock picked up goals from six different skaters Friday to lift them to a 6-4 win over the Powassan Voodoos in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at McIntyre Arena.

The Rock needed just a minute to open the night’s scoring when Kaeden McArthur came out from the side boards and whipped a shot from the bottom of the right circle, through Voodoos’ netminder Miles Gordon.

Answering with an equalizer midway through the first period, Powassan’s Justin Rousseau sent a play cross-ice that Ryan McCoy corralled just inside the blueline, then spun and pumped an attempt towards the target from the left wall that got by a partially screened goaltender Dryden Riley.

Going back in front moments into a man advantage, Brant Romaniuk wired one short side, over the blocker of Gordon, at 13:08.

The Timmins power play went to work once more as they got possession of a draw which allowed Thomas Beard to roof a wrister through traffic piled up out front.

Extending their lead early in the middle stanza, a pass out from behind the goal line found Jack Kelly, who snapped in his third of the campaign.

Up a skater with half a game to play, the Voodoos worked it around nicely and saw Nathan Pelletier sizzle one from the right faceoff dot that eluded Riley.

Building on that, the visitors made it 4-3 at 13:06 as Riley Misa cranked a blast from a sharp angle for his first NOJHL goal.

Going back up by a pair early in the third, Braedyn Cyr sailed a shot from the left point that clipped off a defender, changed direction, and found its way in to collect his opening league tally.

Adding some insurance, Travis Poan got a piece of an attempt from up high to notch his side’s sixth.

The guests moved closer once more when Pelletier sent Cayden Kowal in alone where he made a couple of nifty dekes before tucking the puck past the pad of Riley.

On a late power play, and with their goaltender out for an additional skater, Powassan pressed to add another, but time would expire to finish off the outcome.

The result sees Timmins improve to 3-0 early on the year, while Powassan slips to 1-2.

Each club returns to the ice Saturday as the Rock head to Kirkland Lake while the Voodoos continue a road trip with a match-up in Hearst.
