Recently re-elected Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli continues to show his patriotism in North Bay.

Fedeli was offering Canadian flags at his constituency office on Main Street in North Bay.

"We’re out of Canadian flags," Fedeli noted on social media.

The surge in Canadian flag popularity comes with the growing political unrest between the United States and Canada, led by U.S. President Donald Trump’s insistence that Canada should become the 51st state.

Canadians across all political divides appear to have formed a united front resulting in a surge in patriotism not seen for decades.

This show of patriotism is organic – it’s not organized by any government or any group – it’s just people swelling with pride, who got their backs up (or elbows up, as Gordie Howe would say)," said Fedeli in an email to BayToday.

However, Fedeli is offering some goodwill for constituents hoping to get a flag.

"Our office has given out over 200 Canadian flags," noted Fedeli.

"We ran out and had to turn away two dozen people today alone. But they didn’t leave empty-handed. We have a large supply of 50 ml bottles of maple syrup from a local supplier. People are welcome to drop by our office for a free bottle. And our new flag supply is due here sometime in April.”
