For the second time in the last month, the North Bay Police Service has stopped a driver travelling in excess of 40 kilometres per hour over the posted speed limit in the south end of the city.
Police say the driver stopped Thursday was going 93km/h in the 1100-block of Lakeshore Dr where the speed limit is 50 km/h. The individual's driver's licence has been suspended for 30 days and their vehicle impounded for 14 days.
Corporate Communications Officer David Woolley says the speeding stop was part of a targeted enforcement effort.
"The North Bay Police Service is aware that that area of Lakeshore Drive is problematic for speeding, so our Traffic Unit attended the area to ensure public safety," he advises.

Similarly, on Jan. 17, a driver was ticketed, had their driver's licence suspended for 30 days, and had their vehicle impounded for 14 days following a traffic stop in a nearby section of Lakeshore Drive.
NBPS ticketed that driver for both speeding and racing a motor vehicle in a community safety zone. Police reported the vehicle was travelling 94 km/h in the 50 km/h near Sunset Park school, also in the 1100-block of Lakeshore Drive.
Woolley clarifies, in this most recent instance, the driver was not stopped in an area designated as a community safety zone.
NBPS reminds drivers to keep others safe and keep their vehicles by following the speed limit.
