The North Bay bypass is closed in both directions at this time after police shut down traffic.

Witnesses report a woman clinging to the outside frame of the Chippewa-Frost St. pedestrian bridge over the highway. OPP describes her as "a person in distress."

Motorists reported the person around 7:30 and were afraid they would jump into live traffic. Apparently a police negotiator is inside the bridge speaking with the woman.

Traffic is being detoured while OPP assesses the situation.

At around 8:15 the fire department was trying to get a ladder up and talk the person down

BayToday will update when more information is made available.
