Two local paramedics recognized for exemplary service

On Oct. 3, two valued members of the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board (DNSSAB) Paramedic Services received special recognition at an annual gala in Collingwood, Ont.

Superintendent Maxine Samson and Primary Care Paramedic Scott Poirier were awarded the Governor General's Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medal for 20 years of exemplary service as paramedics in the Province of Ontario. This prestigious award is presented to worthy recipients from across the province.

“We value each of our paramedics and the lifesaving work they do each day and recognize and congratulate Maxine Samson and Scott Poirier as recipients of the Governor General's Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medal.  We are very fortunate to have such skilled and dedicated professionals like Maxine and Scott among our ranks,” says DNSSAB Chair Mark King.

The Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medal, created on July 7, 1994, recognizes professionals in the provision of pre-hospital emergency medical services to the public, who have performed their duties in an exemplary manner, characterized by good conduct, industry and efficiency.

Recipients must have been employed with emergency medical services on or after October 31, 1991, and have completed 20 years of exemplary service, including at least 10 years in the performance of duties involving potential risk.
