Trees for Nipissing joined forces for the fourth year with volunteers from Alliance Caisse to plant trees on October 8.

The group planted 30 trees at Chippewa Secondary School, inside the fence along Chippewa Street and on the other side of the sports field.

Organizers say these trees will provide much-needed shade, reduce air pollution, provide an oasis on the campus, and provide a more diverse habitat for wildlife.

"Chippewa is going to love having these trees for many years to come," said Chippewa Principal Krista M.Tucker Petrick.

Funding for the trees was provided by Alliance Caisse. Judith Veldhuis, Administrative Assistant at Alliance Caisse said her staff planting with Trees for Nipissing found it was another great experience.

"Watch these trees grow when you travel along Chippewa Street in the years to come," Trees for Nipissing officials stated in a release.

Trees for Nipissing (T4N) is a grassroots organization that started in 2004. Spinning off from Heritage Gardeners in 2016, T4N organizes community tree plantings in North Bay and area with various private grants.

"We aim to expand the tree canopy and provide education about trees."
