It looks like a couple of messy weather days coming up with a winter travel advisory and freezing rain warning for parts of our area.
A winter weather travel advisory is in effect for tonight through early Thursday morning.for:
- North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa
- West Nipissing - French River
- Greater Sudbury and vicinity,
Expect snow and ice pellets tonight into Thursday morning. Total snow and ice pellet amounts of 10 to 15 cm could fall by Thursday morning.
Patchy freezing drizzle may develop today. Periods of light snow will linger through Thursday, though any additional accumulations are expected to be minor.
An upgrade to a snowfall warning may be required as the event draws nearer.
Meanwhile, a freezing rain warning is in effect for:
- South River - Burk's Falls
- Bayfield Inlet - Dunchurch
- Huntsville - Baysville
- Town of Parry Sound - Rosseau - Killbear Park
Patchy freezing rain or freezing drizzle is possible today. A prolonged period of freezing rain is expected tonight with ice accretion of 1 to 3 mm.
Snow, at times mixed with ice pellets. Expect total snow and ice pellet amounts of 5 to 10 cm by Thursday morning.
There is a risk of light freezing rain or freezing drizzle through this afternoon. A prolonged period of freezing rain will begin late this afternoon.
Periods of light snow will linger through Thursday, though any additional accumulations are expected to be minor.
Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly.
Also, a snowfall warning has been issued for the Témiscaming area, Que.
Snow mixed with ice pellets, giving total amounts of nearly 15 cm, is expected beginning Wednesday evening.
Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult in some locations.
