City police caught a thief red-handed trying to steal copper wire from a local business early this week.
On June 4 at 5 a.m., officers were conducting a property check at a local business, as the site had been the victim of recent thefts of copper wire within a secure compound. While checking the property, the officers saw a thief preparing to steal copper wire.
The man was arrested and taken to headquarters, searched, and found to have several break-in tools and a set of brass knuckles. As he was on probation at the time of each incident, he was also charged with four counts of failure to comply with probation.
He is now charged with three separate break and enters in which copper wire was stolen.
Tyler Edmunds, 36, of North Bay is charged with:
- Two counts of break enter and theft
- Break and enter with intent to commit theft
- Possession of break-in instruments
- Possession of a prohibited weapon
- Four counts of failing to comply with a probation order
- Failure to comply with a prohibition order
Edmunds remains in custody, pending a bail hearing.
