It's up to the voters to vote and the candidates to wait for the verdict tonight in the federal election.

Polls opened at 9:30 this morning, and will stay open until 9:30 p.m.

Nipissing-Timiskaming Conservative candidate Al McDonald, pictured here, casts his vote at Ferris Glen Public School, in Corbeil. We apologize for the quality of the photograph, but Elections Canada rules do not allow photographers beyond the door of the voting room. McDonald said he will spend the day "touring around" including stops in Powassan and New Liskeard.

This is McDonald's fourth election campaign, but first on the federal front.

Liberal candidate Anthony Rota, who cast his ballot at 1 p.m. at Vincent Massey Public School.

"We've got a few visits to make to day and we're making the rounds so we've got a lot planned today," Rota said.

This is first federal election and second overall; Rota had previously been a North Bay city councillor.

NDP candidate Dave Fluri voted in an advance poll in Sturgeon Falls.

No word on where Green Party candidate Les Wilcox and Canadian Action Party candidate Ross Maclean will be voting, if they haven't already cast their ballots.

BayToday.ca will be providing election coverage starting later on tonight.
