The future has definitely gotten brighter for Laurentian Ski Hill in North Bay.

That's because the ski hill on the North end of North Bay was able to turn the switch on for some new lighting on its hills.

"A huge thank you to Andrew Restoule with Syctr and team for working around the clock to ensure upgrades to the poles and lighting fixtures were done in time for the ski season," Laurentian Ski Hill stated via social media this week.

The hill now has 33 new light fixtures with 42,000 lumens per fixture.

Those new LED flood lights have a rated life of 100,000 + hours, using only 16 per cent light output compared to the old rated lamp life of approximately 12,000 hours.

Ski hill officials say the new LED lights will turn ‘on’ at full capacity instantly as opposed to waiting 10-15 minutes with the old lamps. - even on the coldest of nights.

On top of that, official say the new LED lights are a green light source with no mercury making it better for the environment and are fully recyclable.
