OPP in Temiskaming arrested a teenager today in relation to a recent number of threat complaints.
The investigation started on November 8, 2022, when the police got a report about several youths being threatened over social media.
"Over the next two months the Temiskaming OPP received additional threat complaints that were similar in nature," says Constable Chris Hawkins.
The OPP Digital Forensic Analyst, the OPP Regional Intelligence Analyst, and the Temiskaming Mobile Crisis Unit combined in the investigation.
An 18-year-old resident of Temagami is charged with:
- Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm
- Distribute intimate images without consent
- Imports, distributes, sells, or possesses for the purpose of distribution or sale, child pornography
- Uttering threats - damage property
- Personating a peace officer
- False information
- Public mischief
The youth cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Temiskaming Shores at a later date.
