A trio of school officials at St. Alexander School literally felt like they were “stuck” in school today.

That’s because dozens of students paid good money to duct tape Principal Audrey Gribbons, retiring teacher Joanne Moore, and Education Assistant Jody Etmanski to the gymnasium wall on Thursday morning.

All week long students were paying $1.00 for a meter long piece of duct tape.

The fundraiser was called “Stuck for a Buck," and that donation would allow students and teachers alike to stick to it to their favourite school official.

St. Alexander teacher Kerri Clark came up with the idea which is helping raise money for Juvenile Diabetes research.

Her six-year-old son Ryan suffers from the disease and he and his mother went classroom to classroom this week to talk about the disease.

“We wanted to let the kids know what we were fundraising for. You can’t just ask for money, they have to know what they are donating for so we went into the class and he actually showed his needles, he showed his blood sugar, his checker, we showed all those things. We explained his day, we explained those things for them and then we got them excited about the duct tape,” said Clark about Stuck for a Buck.

Her son is also the ambassador for the JDRF Telus Walk for the Cure which takes place on Sunday, June 21st.
