The District of Nipissing Social Service Administration Board (DNSSAB) is among four projects selected to participate in the expansion of community hubs across the province.

The Ministry of Infrastructure has announced that Dr. MacDougall Public School in North Bay will be used to create an Indigenous-led Hub, which will include an EarlyON Child and Family Centre and a licensed child care centre as part of the Surplus Property Transition Initiative (SPTI).

“We are very pleased that we have received the approval to participate in the Community Hub partnership,” says DNSSAB Chair, Mark King.“Funding provided through the Ministry of Education allows the community to leverage existing community assets in response to community needs."

The proposed community hub in North Bay will provide services to Indigenous communities including a child and family program and licensed child care, Indigenous cultural and linguistic programs and services for families, supported by local elders and Indigenous partners.
