The North Bay Pride parade is attracting some star power this month.

Organizers say that one of the lead actors, Jordan Gavaris will be at the flag raising at North Bay City Hall on Wednesday, September 14, at 4 p.m.

As well, creator, executive producer and writer Julian Doucet will attend.

In addition, Doucet along with two cast members will join as guest judges of the “Oh What A Night – Drag Contest,” alongside fellow judges Phoenix Wilson and Kiki Coe at The Capitol Centre, September 15.

Tickets are “Pay What You Can” pricing and can be purchased here. It's hosted by Jada Shada Hudson and Lemon from “Canada’s Drag Race.”

You can see the Pride Parade on Saturday, Sept 17, and it will include drum lines, groups, and floats with some of the cast from “The Lake.”

"Amazon Prime Video has been working very hard to make its shows more inclusive that represents the community which includes the 2SLGBTQ+," says Jason Maclennan, Communications Director."The Lake, which is filmed in North Bay, is a great representation of the 2SLGBTQ+ and BIPOC actors and crew."

The series stars actors Julia Stiles, Jordan Gavaris, Terry Chen, and Declan Whaley who plays a non-binary youth.

“We’re thrilled with the audience’s positive response to The Lake globally.  It’s a show that has inclusivity baked into it and we’re so proud to film the series here in North Bay and to support our community and North Bay Pride,” said Michael Souther, co-founder of AMAZE which produces the series.

"You can see our community in this show, that is funny, dramatic, and just a fun show to watch. Important to note that some actors and crew are from the 2SLGBTQ+ community," adds Maclennan.

“For many years, shows, movies and tv series did not see much diversity behind or in front of the camera. Many in our community have been fighting for community representation in various shows and movies. Amazon Prime has listened to the community and has made the change so that we can see ourselves in the shows and movies they produce."

When the team from “The Lake” found out about the pride parade coming up, they were excited to have an opportunity to join different events.

"That is a clear message to all of us, especially the 2SLGBTQ+ community that our opinions are important to them and being part of the community is important too. Representation in the media is very important to all of us because our communities are diverse and inclusive which is what being Canadian is all about.”, added Jason Maclennan.
