Local volleyball star Payton Sproule has been named to the U18 Team Ontario Beach Program.
The grade 11 student at Widdifield will be moving to Toronto once her high school exams are complete.
In June, her parents have been commuting back and forth from Toronto to practice with her new team.
The decorated local volleyball players has also committed to play NCAA Division One beach volleyball at the University of Central Arkansas in 2020.
This is the third straight season that Sproule has taken part in the Team Ontario Beach program.
The main objective of the program is to provide a high performance-training environment to identified beach volleyball athletes in order to prepare them for higher levels of competition.
The program is camp based and consists of five camps that will run throughout the summer.
Athletes will be exposed to Team Ontario training methods and will be supported by an integrated support team that includes experts in strength and conditioning, nutrition and mental performance.
