A local hockey player will be on a giant poster in the front window of Skaters North as part of a unique Brand Ambassador contest the store is running this month. Photo submitted.

Skaters North Source For Sports on Fisher Street is gathering hockey photos from across the community in hopes of finding a new brand ambassador.

“We just thought it would be cool to highlight some of local kids and customers and give them a chance to be a superstar for a year and be on our wall,” said Paul McLean, owner of Skaters North.

The store is asking hockey players and parents to forward their favourite photos of their kids or themselves playing hockey.  That part of the contest will wrap up this Friday, November 9th when they will filter out the top six photos. The 6 finalists will be entered in an online vote to determine the Grand Prize winner and Skaters North Ambassador.

McLean says the feedback since the contest started back on November 1st has been great.

“We have gotten all sorts of photos from four-year-old’s playing hockey to even a beer league hockey player from Taiwan,” said McLean.

All six finalists will win a Bauer Supreme 2S Pro stick.

The Grand Prize winner will receive in addition to the stick a $200 Skaters North Gift Card, and a one-year unlimited skate sharpening voucher ($150.00).  And, of course their photo will be front and centre on a poster and in other Skaters North promotions.

McLean says he hopes this can become an annual event.

Interested participants send one submission each, and can send via Instagram, Facebook or Twitter, or else email the photo to [email protected]
