It is with great sadness that BayToday.ca announces the death of 25-year-old Sault Ste. Marie-born Scott Roberts (shown). Roberts is the son of reporter Carol Martin at our sister site SooToday.com.
On Friday Martin had returned home to Sault Ste. Marie from Sudbury, where she had been covering the Jeanette Niganobe trial, who was the drunk driver convicted of causing the death of Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Constable Don Doucet.
Less than 24 hours following the verdict, Carol received word from Alberta that her son was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday with impaired charges against the other driver pending.
The BayToday.ca staff extends their deepest sympathies to Carol and her family at this time of great sadness.

The Edmonton Sun is reporting this afternoon that police have charged a 19-year-old driver with impaired driving causing the death of Sault Ste. Marie's Scott Roberts.
RCMP have charged Mitchell Catcher, who will appear in court in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta on June 26.
Catcher is accused of driving his car the wrong way on Highway 37 near Fort Saskatchewan, when it was involved in a collision with Roberts' motorcycle.
The crash occurred around 2:50 a.m. yesterday.
Scott Roberts, a soldier stationed at CFB Edmonton, is the son of SooToday.com's Carol Martin.
