Sue Knight part of the 2023 North Bay Sports Hall of Fame Class.

Supporters of Sue Knight say she represents the role that many parents have taken on as their children get involved in minor sport.

That is to ensure such leagues are organized and operated for the benefit of youth; while parents often take on a variety of roles.

Sue Knight is one of those parents, but her involvement has gone much further than most.

That is why Knight will be inducted into the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame this spring as part of the 2023 class.

For more than 50 years, Knight has fulfilled every role related to the growth and development of minor soccer in North Bay.

She served as President of the North Bay Youth Soccer Association form 1994-2001, President of North Bay Youth Soccer from 2002-2023, convened the Timbits Youth Soccer Program for 37 years, and was one of the founders and coordinators of the Rapides Soccer School Program for 35 years.

She also served as Treasurer of the Northeast Soccer Association for 20 years.

Knight assumed a key role in the development of the Lakeshore Bingo Hall, getting involved with other volunteers to establish that facility as a major funding source for many sports organizations and groups in the area.

For many years, Lakeshore Bingo generated thousands of dollars for various sports including soccer.

Sue Knight is the epitome of a dedicated volunteer who fought for what she believed in and has a “why not” attitude rather than a “why” attitude.

"Whether she was fighting for more field time, organizing the end-of-season gala for minor soccer, tending a BBQ, or ensuring that all players had proper uniforms," the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame said in a release, "Knight somehow found a way, with hundreds of young soccer players being the beneficiaries."

"Sue Knight is a worthy inductee into the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame. She will be inducted at the 43rd Annual Induction and Awards Dinner on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Davedi Club," the Hall of Fame continued.
