Snow squall warning, significantly reduced visibility

Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility
20190220-snow-storm-0001

Environment Canada is warning that snow squalls are expected today in North Bay and to the south with local accumulations of 10 to 20 cm,  and higher amounts are possible.

This will result in poor visibility at times in heavy snow and blowing snow continuing this morning, and ending late this afternoon or evening.

Lake effect snow has redeveloped and as of 5 A.M., the strongest lake effect snow band is south of Parry Sound. This band is expected to slowly move north through the morning, and then move back south later today.

Strong southwest winds will accompany the snow.

Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.

A snow squall warning is in effect for:

  • South River - Burk's Falls,
  • Bayfield Inlet - Dunchurch,
  •  Huntsville - Baysville,

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
