Snow removal crews shocked by April snow again

'A lot of people on my list just prefer to leave it to melt I think they are pretty much sick of winter as much as we are'

If you have driven by a lot of businesses and see that the snow has not been removed, then you are not alone.

Keith Pollock, owner of Keith & Company Lawn Care, has been in the snow removal business for 13 years now.

He can’t believe what is happening weather wise in our region this month. It has caught the snow removal industry off guard in North Bay as Pollock says at least three local companies have most of their staff vacationing in the Caribbean.

“I have not seen a winter like this I do not think ever, where it has extended into the entire month of April,” said Pollock.

“Normally we are back to work doing spring cleanups or at least parking lot sweeping by the 24th of April at least.”

What’s worse about April winter storms is that many of the businesses who use snow removal companies, have their contracts expire at the end of March.  That means any snow removal today means more money out of their snow removal budget.

“If my customers call, sure we will go out and do it but it is a pay-per-visit type thing,” Pollock explained.

“A lot of people on my list just prefer to leave it to melt I think they are pretty much sick of winter as much as we are.”
