You may have noticed that we still have a substantial amount of snow on the ground, in fact, it's at all-time record highs says the Conservation Authority.

The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority takes readings as part of its flood-forecasting and warning program.

The average depth at all three sites is 43.4 cm, 613% of normal for this time of year.  Average snow water equivalence is 132.7 mm, an equally incredible 575% of normal.

“The snowpack has likely peaked in size and a significant melt is expected over the coming weeks," said Joel Harrison, NBMCA’s Water Resource Scientist. "The Colorado Low storm system that has plagued the province is moving on. Clear skies and daytime highs of five to 10 deg. C are expected for the weekend and early next week,”
