While many North Bay residents have been frustrated by the heavy snowfall in 2025, those in the winter sports business have been welcoming it.
Duncan Cornthwaite, executive director of Laurentian Ski Hill located in the north end of North Bay, admits it has been a great year on the slopes.
"The weather was definitely on our side compared to the past couple of years," he explained.

That's good news, considering the season got off to a slow start in December 2024. That meant only limited runs were open during the popular Christmas holiday break.
Cornthwaite says the March Break camps wrapped up on Friday.
"The camps were a great success," said Cornthwaite.
"We even had a waiting list, and once again, the weather provided us with perfect conditions."
However, with mild conditions and rain in the forecast, he isn't sure how much longer they have.
"As we move forward, I am hoping to at least ski into April, but we will have to see as the weather becomes unpredictable," he said.
