OPP stopped a vehicle with eight occupants for failing to move over for an emergency vehicle on August 5 and found most were not wearing seatbelts.
Through investigation, four adults and two children from Brampton were not wearing seatbelts.
The driver, a 40-year-old from Brampton is charged with:
- Fail to move into another lane for emergency vehicle
- Two counts of driving while a passenger under 16, fails to wear a seatbelt
Four adult passengers have been charged individually for failing to wear their seatbelts.
The OPP patrols more than 130,000 kilometres of roadway throughout Ontario and reminds motorists that drivers and passengers must be buckled up.
Drivers are responsible for every person in your vehicle to have their own working seatbelt, that passengers under the age of 16 are wearing their seatbelts properly, and when required by law that they are secured in appropriate child car seats.
