After a few postponements, the annual event takes place this Saturday

Rain or shine, Callander’s Sirens in the Park takes place this Saturday, Sept. 21. The forecast looks good, with a high of 24C and a slight chance of a brief shower in the afternoon. So if rain does fall, the festivities will be held under the cover of the Bill Barber Rink at 1984 Swale St., just behind the Community Centre.

If the sun shines and the weather is favourable, the event will take place at its usual site – Callander’s Centennial Park.

Hosted by Callander Fire and Emergency Services, the popular event provides an opportunity for residents to come out to meet the first responders and learn more about the services provided. The police and paramedics are usually there as well, and it’s a great opportunity to have a close look at their vehicles and equipment.

Plus, there are a lot of activities for the kids, such as bouncy castles and an animated film, Elemental, to close the day’s events. The movie begins at dusk, and you’re reminded to bring a chair to make the movie all the more enjoyable.

“We appreciate your patience following the previous postponements and are grateful for your continued support,” municipal staff detailed in a release.  “We’re looking forward to seeing everyone on September 21st for a fantastic day of community engagement and family fun.”

The event begins at 10 a.m., rain or shine, and is free for all.
